Within the framework of Urban Future Conference Week (UFC23)
With the belief that Egyptian know-how and experience should not end at its national borders. And following the successful COP27 conference in Egypt in 2022, EZBET e.V. together with its main partner BENAA Foundation today are sharing their experience in building with environmentally friendly construction techniques at the Urban Future Conference UFC-23 in Stuttgart, Germany, and presenting clay as an alternative building material to other conventional materials such as cement.
The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness of the contribution of the construction sector to climate change and the urgent need to switch from cement to natural and environmentally friendly materials such as clay. During the workshop, theoretical and practical input will be given on the strengths, properties and possibilities of this material. The practical part will cover a wide range of different techniques and additives used in clay construction.
Our target audiences are broad group structures of students, graduates and interested individuals to create platforms for exchange, knowledge transfer and awareness about the complexity of sustainability issues, especially in the construction sector.nOur program is designed so that experts from Egypt (both academic and practitioners) will share their knowledge and experiences during the workshop. Best practice projects for traditional and modern applications from the global south will be presented.
EZBET e.V. and its main Egyptian partner KCL (Kairos City Lab)* together with the BENAA Foundation is collaborating with the international master program IUSD (Integrated Urbanism and Sustainable Designs) and the Städtebau Institute at the University of Stuttgart.n
The realisation of this workshop is being made possible through the great support of our sponsors: Bürgerstiftung Stuttgart, House of Resources_Forum der Kulturen and Stiftung für Entwicklungszusammenarbeit Baden Wüttemberg (SEZ).
